Spanning over 400 hectares, this magnificent campus is surrounded by forests on three sides and the ocean on the fourth, just a 30-minute bus ride from downtown Vancouver.

The Vancouver campus is home to numerous facilities, including but not limited to:

●       TRIUMF — one of the world's leading laboratories in subatomic physics

●       UBC Library - one of Canada's premier academic libraries, with 21 branches and divisions on this campus

●       Chan Centre for the Performing Arts - one of the world's largest concert halls

●       Centre for Interactive Research on Sustainability (CIRS)

●       UBC Botanical Garden and Centre for Plant Research

●       Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre

●       Nitobe Memorial Garden - considered one of the top five Japanese gardens outside Japan

Museums and Art Galleries

Museum of Anthropology (MOA)

MOA facilitates access to collections of Canadian Indigenous communities. The building is temporarily closed for renovations until June 2024, but during this temporary closure, it continues to offer special events and digital school programs for the public to benefit from.

Beaty Biodiversity Museum

The only natural history museum in Vancouver, housing over two million specimens dating back to the early 1900s, boasts a vast treasure trove including fish, fossils, birds, and insects.

Irving K. Barber Learning Centre

Alongside contemporary art exhibitions, the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre permanently houses the Chung Collection, which highlights early migration from China to British Columbia. Throughout the Centre, you can find carvings and weavings of Indigenous civilizations, and in the Ridington Reading Room, portraits of UBC presidents and chancellors.

Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery

A nationally acclaimed contemporary art gallery known for its bold exhibitions challenging perception and creativity. With free admission and over 4,500 artworks, the Belkin Art Gallery stands as a focal point of the visual arts scene at the University of British Columbia and hosts one of British Columbia’s largest public art collections.

AHVA Gallery

This contemporary art gallery, located within the Audain Art Centre, hosts free exhibitions, lectures, and performances by students (AHVA), faculty members, and guest artists from the Department of Art History, Visual Art, and Theory at the University of British Columbia.

Pacific Museum of Earth

The precious stone and mineral gallery, along with the dinosaur bone gallery, are popular exhibitions that make the University of British Columbia's Pacific Museum of Earth unique among Vancouver's museums.

Residential School History and Dialogue Centre

Between the late 1800s and 1996, approximately 150,000 Indigenous children in Canada were forcibly sent to residential schools operated in collaboration with church organizations by the Canadian Government. These children were torn from their families and deprived of their languages, lands, and cultures. The Residential School History and Dialogue Centre at the University of British Columbia is a space where survivors of residential schools and their communities inform, gather, listen, learn, and bear witness to this history.
